Meridian Club Personalities
Our long white beach and crystalline waters are magnificent, but our friendly native staff will leave you with equally indelible memories of your stay at The Meridian Club. They are some of the most genuine, down to earth, people you will ever meet, sincerely interested in making sure you enjoy your visit to the fullest. No pretenses or plastic smiles. You will be treated not so much like customers as friends.

We are very fortunate to have Beverly and Walter (“Wally”) Plachta back as our managers. They managed the Meridian Club from 2001 - 2004, then spent three years managing and overseeing reconstruction of a resort on Nevis. We enticed them back in 2007 and hope to keep them forever. They truly “get” what Pine Cay is all about and will go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. |

Duke Delancy is our Assistant Island Manager and Head of the Maintenance Department. He, more than anyone, is responsible for keeping island operations running smoothly. Duke has been with The Meridian Club since 1975. Soft spoken, intelligent and eminently capable, we could not ask for a better employee.

Carnetta Forbes also joined us in 2007 and Dorothy Gardiner joined us in 2010 as members of our Guest Services staff. Both ladies hail from North Caicos and can provide a wealth of local information in addition to gracious hospitality. |
As sunset approaches, Floyd Forbes, our Head Bartender, will serve you cocktails in the upstairs bar and lounge. He offers a variety of special island drinks in addition to the usual fare. He is in his third decade of service with The Meridian Club and can answer almost any question you may have about our history. You will also see him serving drinks on our sunset cruises and monthly glow-worm trips. |
Our Maitre D', Wesley Handfield, ensures that each meal is a perfect experience. Wesley has also been with us for many years. Each morning, he writes up the menu for the day and can answer any questions you may have about the selections. Guests who have success on a fishing trip can ask him to have the chef specially prepare their catch of the day for dinner, time permitting. |
Each morning, weather permitting, guests enjoy taking our complimentary snorkeling trip to the colorful offshore reef teeming with fish and other sea life. Raymond Campbell, the head of our marine department and another three decade employee, will greet you at the dock and either he or one of his team will captain the ship on the short trip to the reef. He also arranges glow-worm outings and other adventures at sea. |
If you love to fish, you must meet J.R. Delancy, our veteran Fishing Guide. J.R.’s knowledge of the waters surrounding the islands is unequalled and he handles all of our bonefishing, reef fishing and deep sea fishing charters. Fishing charters can be arranged at the front desk. |
Vanderlean Taylor, “Lean” for short, is the head of our housekeeping department. If you need anything for your room, ask Lean. If she doesn’t have it, she can usually get it. |
Sherwyn DrePaul is our plant master. When others think that a palm tree has had it's day--Sherwyn makes certain it lives to see another day--he has the magic touch and a smile that will melt your heart!! |
Shane Coffey who hails from Aspen Colorado, served as a guest chef at the end of last season and wowed our restaurant patrons. He is our new full-time Executive Chef. |
These are but a few of the smiling faces you’ll see at the hotel and around the island.
