The Meridian Club doesn't have air conditioning, as the constant breezes and ceiling fans keep the rooms comfortable except during the peak of the summer when we are closed.

If renting a house and a sitter is needed, please let us know and one of our housekeepers would be happy to do that. However, 24 hours notice is required.

You will find that less is more. There is no need to over pack as the atmosphere is very informal. And we don’t care if you wear the same thing twice. Shoes are optional.

Each Club room has 2 lounges just outside their room on the patio. They also have a tiki hut assigned to them with 2 lounges and 2 beach chairs.

Snorkel gear is available at the Marina for use during your stay. Also available are hobie cats, sea kayaks, and paddle boards. Please be mindful that we do not have a dedicated beach person so boats and kayaks need to be brought up the beach beyond the high water mark. In years past, we have had boats and kayaks float away. Please see the front desk to sign waivers.

One of the things our guests most appreciate about the Meridian Club is that we ban phone use in the Clubhouse and other public areas. A telephone is available in the office for emergencies and you may use your cell phone (or a rental unit from the Club) in certain areas away from the hotel, such as the tennis court. Please note that telephones should not be used in rooms, as the sound travels and will disturb other guests.

You may also arrange to send faxes from the office and we have a small internet room available for public use that is equipped with a computer and connections for laptops. Internet service to the island is provided by a microwave link, so while generally reliable and fine for e-mail, it occasionally is affected by weather and can be a little slower than you may be used to.

Check-out time is 12 noon and check-in time is 3:00 pm.

Children 12 and older are always welcome in the hotel with their parents. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 are allowed during our "Family Months" of June and July, and over the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Rules regarding ages of children allowed in private rental homes vary (see Private Home Rentals page for details.)

Please be aware that children and grandchildren of the island's private homeowners may occasionally be present, particularly during school vacation periods.

All children are subject to rules regarding pool, restaurant and golf buggy usage.

Children rates apply to those 17 and under.

November through May temperatures range from 75°- 85° F (23°-29° C). In September and October, temperatures can reach 90° F (32° C). Trade winds keep the temperature comfortable. Annual rainfall is low -- averaging 21 inches in the Turks and 40 inches in the Caicos.

Open Monday - Saturday, one hour per day. There is a limited supply of groceries, including fresh vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products, and snacks. Liquor and wines are available as well as a few over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and suntan lotions.

Accounts must be settled prior to departure. CASH, TRAVELER's CHECKS or PERSONAL CHECKS are our preferred method of payment.

Visa, Master Card are also accepted, however unfortunately our local bank is now charging multiple additional processing fees for credit card transactions. We regret that we must add a 3% surcharge if you choose to pay by Master Card, Visa or American Express. This will cover approximately half of the fees being charged to us by the bank.

US$ is the currency of the territory.

Each person may bring in $50 worth of goods without paying duty. Of course, there is no duty on personal belongings. If you have any special concerns you may call the Customs office at 649-946-4241 or 946-4905.

Three meals plus afternoon tea are included in the Club Room rates. Meals are also available for private home renters (depending on seating availability), for an extra cost. Visit the Dining Page for information about our cuisine.

Ringing of an old bell outside the Clubhouse signals that lunch and dinner are served. This quaint practice dates back to the early days of the Meridian Club when it was a fly-in resort owned by Bill and Ginny Cowles. Ginny served as cook and bartender. Meals often required extra last-minute preparation and could not be arranged about a fixed schedule. When the meal was ready, she would ring the bell to alert the homeowners and other people on the island that it was time to come.

Always casual. Bathing suits with cover-ups or sport clothes are the norm at lunch. Informal summer evening clothes, sport shirts and slacks are perfect for dinner.

The Island maintains standard US 110 volts, 60 cycles -- the same as in Canada and the U.S.

The Club is an environmentally sensitive resort, ideal for those seeking an unspoiled retreat. Its 12 rooms and the Sand Dollar Cottage, are set among sand dunes, sea oats and sea grapes, fronting on the beach. For more about our "green island" click here.

Required for all fishermen over 15 years of age and, under new regulations, for any person in a fishing boat over 15, whether they fish or not. We are authorized by the Fisheries Department to issue one day and 30 day licenses as a convenience to our guests.

If renting a house, garbage is pick up on Mondays and Thursday. We ask that renters separate burnables (paper and food) from non-burnables (plastic, cans)

A service charge of 10% is added to your bill for distribution to all staff. If, however, a certain staff member has enhanced your stay in a special way, feel free to tip them directly.

When staying in a Club room at the hotel, housekeeping service is provided twice daily. When staying in a rental house, housekeeping is provided mid-week during your stay to change out sheets and towels and tidy up a bit.

(1) A valid passport
(2) AND your return ticket or proof of return ticket which may be in the form of a copy of your itinerary (for e-tickets).

There is now a modern hospital on Providenciales along with a good number of skilled private doctors. We can arrange emergency evacuations from Pine Cay by boat or plane if necessary - during daylight hours only. We have a supply of oxygen and a defibrillator on Pine Cay and Management personnel are trained in CPR. Should you have special medical needs please discuss them with our reservations office upon booking your trip, and remind our manager upon your arrival.

In keeping with our “Unplugged” philosophy, we respectfully ask guests to place the cell phones in their safes and not use them until they leave the island. IF it is necessary to make a call, feel free to go by the tennis court, away from others, to speak as sound carries. Please do not use cell phones in guest rooms as there is no “white noise” to drown out your voice from interfering with the solitude and quiet others have come to expect. Cell phone use is prohibited on Club property including the beach so as not to disturb others.

Post cards to USA = 50 cents/letters to USA $1. Postage to Europe: 60 cents for postcards and $1 for letters

The office is manned daily from 8 am – 5 PM November thru July. In our off season, August thru October, the office is manned M-Th 9 am – 4 PM

Each room is supplied with a safe which you encode yourself.

The Sand Dollar is our logo for a good reason - these shells are abundant at certain times of the year on "Sand Dollar Point." Sea Biscuits can also be found along with conch shells, star fish, whelk, and other treasures from the sea.

In order to provide you with the most relaxing, authentic Caribbean experience, these items are not included in your room. Guests come to The Meridian Club to enjoy freedom from the noise and disruption they can generate. A telephone is available in the office for emergency use. Cell phone use is prohibited on Club property, including the beach, so as not to disturb others. If it is necessary to make a call on your cell phone, it can be done off the Club grounds and away from other people (eg. near the tennis court). Many guests keep their cell phones in their room safe throughout their stay.

Time-wise, Pine Cay differs from the rest of the Turks & Caicos in that it does not go off of Daylight Savings Time. Therefore, from the end of November to the beginning of March, Pine Cay is one hour ahead of Provo and the rest of the Turks & Caicos as well as the East Coast of the U.S.

No cars are allowed on the island, although contractors' vehicles may occasionally be present if a construction project is underway. Bicycles are available to hotel guests on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge. Private rental homes are equipped with electric golf carts. Golf carts may also be rented by hotel guests through the front desk at a rate of $20/hr. Driving is on the left, British style.
