Meet Our Resort Staff
Our long white beach and crystalline waters are magnificent, but our friendly resort staff will leave you with equally indelible memories of your stay here in the Turks & Caicos
Our staff are some of the most down-to-earth people you will ever meet and they are sincerely interested in making sure you enjoy your visit to the fullest. No pretenses or plastic smiles. You will be treated not so much like customers as friends.
We are very fortunate to have Debbie Keller and Staffan Svensson as our managers. They bring their international hospitality and engineering experience to Pine Cay, and will go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one.
Duke Delancy is our Assistant Island Manager and head of the maintenance department. He, more than anyone, is responsible for keeping island operations running smoothly. Duke has been with The Meridian Club since 1975. Soft spoken, intelligent and eminently capable, we could not ask for a better employee.
As sunset approaches, Floyd Forbes, our Head Bartender, will serve you cocktails in the upstairs bar and lounge. He offers a variety of special island drinks in addition to the usual fare. He is in his fourth decade of service with The Meridian Club and can answer almost any question you may have about our history. Lewis (“Bang Bang”) Missick, our other veteran bartender, will keep you laughing throughout your stay.
Our Maitre D', Wesley Handfield, ensures that each meal is a perfect experience. Wesley has also been with us for many years. Each morning, he writes up the menu for the day and can answer any questions you may have about the selections. Guests who have success on a fishing trip can ask him to have the chef specially prepare their catch of the day for dinner, time permitting.
Guest Services - Avianne Adolph joined us in 2006, Carnetta Forbes in 2007 and more recently we welcomed Melissa Jennings as members of our Guest Services staff. They have a wealth of local knowledge in addition to their gracious hospitality.
Each morning, weather permitting, guests enjoy taking our complimentary snorkeling trip to the colorful offshore reef teeming with fish and other sea life. Raymond Campbell, the head of our marine department and another three decade employee, will greet you at the dock and either he or one of his team will captain the ship on the short trip to the reef. He also arranges glow-worm outings and other adventures at sea.
If you love to fish, you must meet J.R. Delancy, our veteran Fishing Guide. J.R.’s knowledge of the waters surrounding the islands is unequalled and he handles all of our bonefishing, reef fishing and deep sea fishing charters. Fishing charters can be arranged at the front desk.
The most popular gal on the island is Sara Spudowski, Executive Chef and Chief Sweets Officer. Once you’ve tasted her delectable desserts, you will understand why. She starts her day before the sun rises and you can find her in the kitchen until the last dessert is served after dinner.
Carrington ("Scrape") Simmons is our veteran sous chef. He often oversees meal preparations for lunch, Wednesday "Native Night" and Saturday "Jump-up" and serves as a capable back-up for our executive chef at other times.
Safety has never been a concern on Pine Cay, and John Patrick, Jaime Encallado and Melecio "Mel" Ansong make sure everyone feels secure along with their K-9 staff Kilo, Molly, Roscoe and Zora.
Vanderlean Taylor, "Lean" for short, is the head of our housekeeping department. If you need anything for your room, ask Lean. If she doesn’t have it, she can usually get it.
